Our Direct Services

The UW IHDD provides comprehensive direct services and programs that include inclusive education, employment assistance opportunities, services to support individuals with visual impairments, and programs and resources dedicated to assistive technology.

Haring Center

At the University of Washington Haring Center for Inclusive Education, amazing possibilities are within reach for each and every child, those with disabilities and those who are typically developing.

UW Employment Program

The UW Employment Program (UWEP) serves individuals between the ages of 18 and 65 and works to support competitive employment for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Washington Assistive Technology Act Program (WATAP)

WATAP helps individuals with disabilities access and learn about assistive technology. Services include equipment demonstrations, device loans, evaluations, and guidance on affordable AT options. WATAP also provides statewide consultation and training.

Independent Living Services for the Blind (ILSB)

In partnership with the WA Department of Services for the Blind, this program empowers adults experiencing vision loss to live independently. Services are provided at no cost and include daily living skills training, counseling, mobility tools, and peer support.

iCanConnect

iCanConnect provides free communication technology to individuals with combined vision and hearing loss who meet income guidelines. Equipment includes smartphones, braille displays, and screen readers. In Washington, the program is coordinated by WATAP.
