2026 National Survey on Health and Disability: Share Your Experiences

The University of Kansas is recruiting participants for the 2026 National Survey on Health and Disability (NSHD). Adults age 18 or older living in the U.S. with a physical, mental, emotional, or health condition are invited to participate, including those who do not identify as having a disability.

A teacher guides students with mental disabilities, including Down Syndrome, in sewing.The survey asks about health care access, housing, transportation, health insurance, community participation, and other life experiences. Participants’ experiences will help inform resources and recommendations to improve services and policies affecting people with disabilities.

The confidential survey takes approximately 20–30 minutes and can be completed online in English or Spanish or by telephone. Participants may have someone help them read the survey or select answers.

Deaf representatives from 360 Direct Access provide American Sign Language (ASL) support to help participants complete the survey or answer questions. To connect, use the “ASL Video Chat” button on the survey or call 855-556-6328 using a videophone.
