UW CREATE Researchers Featured for AI Accessibility Work
Three University of Washington researchers affiliated with UW CREATE, the Center for Research and Education on Accessible Technology and Experiences, were recently featured by KOMO News for work using artificial intelligence to improve accessibility and support people with disabilities.
The story features Jazette Johnson, PhD, Kate Glazko, and Zhuohao “Jerry” Zhang. Their projects focus on AI literacy, disability bias in AI hiring tools, and accessible design technology.
Johnson’s work explores how AI tools can help people with cognitive disabilities better understand complex medical information. Glazko’s research examines disability bias in AI hiring systems and explores tools to support job applicants. Zhang is developing accessible 3D design tools for people who are blind or have low vision (video below).
