Sara Jane Webb Awarded Autism Research Grant
Congratulations to Sara Jane Webb, PhD, on receiving funding through the Aligning Research to Impact Autism (ARIA) initiative to advance research for children with profound autism spectrum disorder and related genetic syndromes.
Dr. Webb is a researcher at Seattle Children’s and serves as Director of the Clinical Translational Core of the University of Washington Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (UW IDDRC). She will lead Seattle Children’s participation in the Innovative Medicine and Precision Approaches to Clinical Trials (IMPACT) Network, an international effort to accelerate clinical trial readiness and therapeutic development for children with profound autism.
The five-year award will provide up to $17.25 million in funding. Seattle Children’s is one of 12 sites selected to join the IMPACT Network, which aims to expand research opportunities for children with profound autism, a population that has historically been underrepresented in autism research.
Through the network, Dr. Webb and her colleagues will contribute to efforts designed to better understand developmental outcomes and support future clinical trials, treatments, and supports for autistic children and their families.
