Designing Evaluation with Disability in Mind
As a follow-up to IHDD’s Lunch and Learn, Building Accessibility Into Our Research, we invite the community and research partners to continue the conversation through an upcoming AUCD webinar focused on accessible and inclusive evaluation practices.
People with disabilities are often unintentionally excluded from research and evaluation efforts due to inaccessible design, procedures, or assumptions about participation. When accessibility is not considered early in the evaluation process, it can limit who is able to participate and affect the relevance and usefulness of findings. This webinar will explore how evaluation approaches can be more intentionally designed to include people with disabilities and how these practices can improve usability for all participants.
Presenters will share practical lessons learned from adapting evaluation methods to be accessible for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Topics will include navigating IRB submissions, engaging advisory boards, training staff, and developing Research Advisory Boards that center the perspectives and lived experiences of people with disabilities throughout the evaluation process.
