Introducing Genetics Program Director Dr. Leppig

Kathleen Leppig, MDThe IHDD welcomes Dr. Kathleen Leppig, M.D. as the new Director of the Genetics Program. The Genetics Program serves individuals and families at risk for or living with genetic conditions and disabilities. Its clinics provide diagnosis, assessment, treatment, and counseling to meet the needs of patients across the lifespan. The program also connects families with current research, support groups, and community resources to help them understand and manage genetic conditions.

Dr. Leppig is a Clinical Professor in the Division of Medical Genetics at the UW School of Medicine and a leader in clinical genetics and patient care. She succeeds Dr. Fuki Hisama, whose leadership strengthened the program’s integration of clinical care, research, and training.

Under Dr. Leppig’s direction, the program continues to advance its work across clinics including the Autism Genetics Clinic, Biochemical Genetics Clinic, Neurogenetics Clinic, and Phenylketonuria Clinical Program, as well as the Genetic Counseling Graduate Program.
