Autism Center of Excellence Certification Training Offered December 11
The UW Institute on Human Development and Disability (IHDD) will offer a Washington State Autism Center of Excellence (COE) Certification Training on Friday, December 11, 2026, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm PT. The training will be held live on Zoom and is offered at no cost.
Sponsored by the Washington State Health Care Authority, the training is designed to expand access to autism evaluations and supports for children and youth with Washington State Medicaid, also known as Apple Health.
Center of Excellence certification allows eligible providers to diagnose autism spectrum disorder for pediatric patients with Washington State Medicaid and write a covered prescription for applied behavior analysis (ABA) when medically necessary.
The training will cover autism screening and evaluation, differential and co-occurring diagnoses, diagnostic evaluation models, ABA and other interventions, documentation and billing codes, administrative support, lived experience perspectives, and resources for families.
COE-eligible clinicians include MDs, DOs, ARNPs, PhD and PsyD clinical psychologists, naturopathic doctors, and PA-Cs who serve or plan to serve children and youth through age 20 with Medicaid coverage.
Neurologists, psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and developmental-behavioral pediatricians who are already able to diagnose autism may also benefit from the training’s focus on Washington-specific requirements and resources.
Other clinicians and community partners who collaborate with primary care provider COEs or support autism evaluations and connections to services are also welcome to participate.
The training is offered through WA INCLUDE at the UW Institute on Human Development and Disability.
Register for the December 11 Autism COE Certification Training.
