Research Participants Needed: Help Make Health Information Easier to Understand
Researchers from the University of Washington CREATE (Center for Research and Education on Accessible Technology and Experiences) are seeking adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to participate in a study about making health information easier to understand.
The research team is developing tools to help explain health information, such as medication labels, hospital paperwork, and letters from healthcare providers. Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences finding and understanding health information and provide feedback on early versions of these tools.
Who Can Participate?
You may be eligible if you:
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Have an intellectual or developmental disability (such as autism, dyslexia, Down syndrome, or a related condition)
- Are interested in trying tools designed to explain health information
What Will Participants Do?
Participants will take part in a one-hour session, either on Zoom or in person.
During the session, participants will:
- Discuss their experiences finding and understanding health information (20–30 minutes)
- Review examples of health information tools and provide feedback (30–40 minutes)
Participants will receive a $35 gift card for their time.
