Remembering Dr. Kendra Liljenquist
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Kendra Liljenquist on July 10. As a graduate of the 2014-2015 UW LEND cohort, Kendra dedicated her career to improving the lives of children and families through research, teaching, and community partnership. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, trainees, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with her.

Kendra joined the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s in 2018 and became an assistant professor in the UW Department of Pediatrics in 2019. She also served as a principal investigator in the Center for Child Health, Behavior, and Development (CHBD).
Drawing on her background in rehabilitation medicine, Kendra focused on improving children’s outcomes by advancing the quality and cultural relevance of developmental screening and early intervention. Her work emphasized health equity, implementation science, and meaningful community engagement.
Before joining CHBD, Kendra spent more than two years with the Center for Health Outcomes, where she supported the Seattle Children’s Research Institute Summer Scholars Program, advanced the Health Equity Research Program, and fostered community engagement in research.
Kendra was a scientist, educator, mentor, and advocate. Through her research, teaching, and collaborative approach, she made meaningful contributions to child health and developmental disabilities while inspiring colleagues and trainees across disciplines.
As a UW LEND graduate, Kendra exemplified interdisciplinary collaboration and a dedication to improving the lives of children and families.
She will be deeply missed.
