Elizabeth Nance Named Chair of UW Chemical Engineering
Elizabeth Nance, Ph.D., an Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC) Research Affiliate at the UW IHDD, has been named chair of the University of Washington’s Department of Chemical Engineering, beginning September 1, 2025.
Nance’s research focuses on nanomedicine and pediatric brain health, with an emphasis on brain-targeted drug delivery and computational approaches to support research on neurodevelopmental conditions. Her work contributes to improved understanding of the developing brain and advances therapeutic strategies for neurological disorders.
As a Research Affiliate with the IDDRC at IHDD, Nance collaborates across disciplines to support research that connects engineering and developmental disabilities. Her lab’s recent work includes developing a new method to improve blood-brain barrier research and leading a WRF-funded project focused on neurotherapeutics for newborns.
In addition to the IHDD, Nance also holds affiliate appointments in Bioengineering, Radiology, and the eScience Institute.
