The Institute on Human Development and Disability (IHDD)’s 2nd Annual Research Day will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 9am to 4:30pm at the University of Washington South Campus Center (Room SOCC 316.) The IHDD research day includes lunch and will showcase oral and poster presentations from our IDD research community.

What to Expect at the 2nd Annual Research Day May 29th, 2024
The upcoming IHDD Research Day aims to continue the momentum of knowledge advancement and enhancing the lives of individuals with disabilities.
Get ready for:
- Keynote speaker – Vittorio Gallo, Senior Vice President of Seattle Children’s Hospital and Chief Scientific Officer of the Seattle Childrens Research Institute.
- Information about the IDDRC science cores and what they can do for you
- Showcasing ongoing projects from bench to translational to clinical and applied research programs spanning the IDDRC, UCEDD and LEND!
- Encourage interaction and collaboration between the labs and programs
- Insights into IHDD’s community outreach and advocacy initiatives
- The event will further increase awareness of the IHDD vision of a world where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities can live, learn, work, and flourish.

The inaugural IHDD Research Day celebrated the IHDD’s new designation and honored Dr. Michael Guralnick’s invaluable contributions. The event also introduced the new leadership of IHDD and IDDRC Director, Dr. Sunny Juul, and UCEDD Director, Dr. Mark Harniss.
With over 80 attendees, the event highlighted IHDD’s diverse activities, from impactful research projects to community outreach initiatives focused on inclusive practices.
RSVPs are to ensure we provide enough food for all attendees.
Abstract submissions may be research that you have previously presented at another meeting or conference within the past 12 months. We welcome multiple abstracts but will only allow one abstract where you are set as the presenter. You can be the co-author on several submissions. During the submission process you will be asked if you would like the presentation format to be oral, poster, or either. The IHDD abstract review committee will review all abstracts and inform the presenting author of acceptance and format.
Deadline for receipt is April 29, 2024
Title: Spell out words, do not use abbreviations.
Authors: Names and surnames for each author must be provided.
Affiliations: The presenter’s title (grad student, Assistant Professor etc), home Department, Hospital affiliation and IHDD connection should be listed.
Preferred Presentation: Your preferred presentation mode should be listed (oral, poster or either). We will try to honor this but can’t guarantee your choice.
Text: Please place your abstract WITHIN the box.
Figure/Table: A maximum of TWO figures/tables/images per abstract may be included. Please add your figures etc. below the text box. The image must be JPG/JPEG or PNG.
