WA DDC Celebrates 50 Years of Advocacy

The Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council is marking 50 years of advancing disability rights and inclusion across Washington through its History and Visioning Project.

WADDC 50 Years of AdvocacyEstablished in 1976, the Council has worked alongside self advocates, families, and community partners to strengthen systems, expand community living, and promote self determination. The History and Visioning Project honors that journey while helping shape what comes next.

Through archival materials, timelines, recorded interviews, visual storytelling, and policy documents, the project reflects the Council’s evolution and uplifts the voices of people with developmental disabilities, family members, advocates, and allies. It is designed as a living archive that will continue to grow over time.
