2025 CREATE Community Day Recap

On May 28, CREATE’s annual Community Day brought together students, faculty, community members, and industry partners to explore current work and emerging topics in accessibility research.

The event featured two panel discussions focused on timely issues– legal challenges to access and rights, and how accessibility research can be translated from the lab into real-world solutions. Panelists included experts from academia, nonprofit leadership, technology, and consulting, who shared insights grounded in both personal experiences and professional practice.

Following the panels, the Research Showcase, co-sponsored by HuskyADAPT, highlighted over 30 projects developed by student and postdoctoral researchers across all three UW campuses. The showcase included a wide range of accessibility-related innovations, such as robotic screen positioning tools, multilingual captioning studies, and inclusive play research.

More than 120 people attended in person and virtually. Thank you to all who joined us and continue to support CREATE’s mission to advance inclusive and impactful accessibility research.
