Opportunities and Barriers to Accessing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Services for Adults with Communication Disabilities

Photo: Instructor teaching a parent how to use an Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) device.Who: We are looking for adults who use communication devices, caregivers of those who use communication devices, and other key stakeholders (e.g. Qualified Intellectual Disability Professionals and Social Workers).

What: The purpose of the study is to explore the experiences in getting communication or AAC services and devices. You will share basic demographic information and participate in an interview that asks about your experiences in accessing AAC services and getting an AAC device. Interviews will be between 60-90 minutes and can be broken up into different sessions. Participants will be asked to review the initial results of the study and provide their feedback to the researchers. Review and feedback should take between 1 to 2 hours.
