Dr. Frederick Shic Named to the American Pediatric Society

The APS honors individuals who have made exceptional contributions to child health through leadership, education, research, policy, and clinical care.

Dr. Shic’s research focuses on applying innovative eye-tracking and neuroimaging techniques—such as near-infrared spectroscopy and magnetic resonance spectroscopy—to explore social and cognitive development in infants, toddlers, and children who are autistic. His work aims to deepen our understanding of autism and improve outcomes for autistic children and their families.

At IHDD, Dr. Shic leads the Seattle Children’s Innovative Technologies Lab (SCITL), advancing everyday technologies to enhance the lives of children with developmental disabilities. His interdisciplinary approach bridges technology and clinical research, driving innovation in pediatric healthcare.
