Your Right to Vote: 2024 Washington State Voting Guide

Voting is a powerful way to make your voice heard and participate in decisions that directly impact your life. This is especially true for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, who have the right to vote but often face barriers to participating fully. With Election Day approaching on November 5th, it’s essential to ensure everyone in Washington State has access to this fundamental right.

Who Can Vote in Washington State?

You can vote in Washington State if you meet the following criteria:

  • A citizen of the United States
  • A resident of Washington State
  • At least 18 years old
  • Not disqualified from voting due to a court order (even if you are under guardianship, you can still vote as long as the court has not specifically taken that right away)
  • Not currently in prison for a felony or federal/out-of-state felony conviction

If you’re 16 or 17, you can sign up as a Future Voter and be automatically registered to vote when you turn 18.

How to Register to Vote in Washington State

Eligible voters can register online, by mail, or in person. The deadline for online and mail-in registrations is October 28th, while in-person registration is available until Election Day, November 5th.
