Application Timeline

Applications for the UW LEND 2024-2025 term are set as follows:

  • Application Opening: January 16, 2024
  • Submission Deadline: April 5, 2024

Who Can Apply?

This opportunity is open to a diverse range of individuals:

  • Graduate students
  • Post-doctoral fellows
  • Mid-career health professionals
  • Family members of neurodiverse individuals
  • Self-advocates and individuals with a developmental disability seeking to enhance their leadership and advocacy skills

What UW LEND Offers

The program entails:

  • Complete ≥ 300 hours of training to include classroom learning and discussion, clinical practice, community-based experiences, and leadership activities
  • Commit 6-8 hours per week on LEND activities for 9 months
  • Complete a mentored leadership project
  • Meet with assigned faculty mentor on regular basis
  • Receive a base stipend with opportunity to apply for additional needs-based funding*
*The UW LEND program is supported by a federal HRSA/MCHB grant, and as such financial support is available only to U.S. citizens and permanent residents.

The program envisions a world where individuals with neurodevelopmental and related disabilities reach their full potential and actively engage as valued members of their communities. Its mission is to serve as a Center of Excellence in MCH leadership training and promote evidence-based clinical practice, advocacy, and inclusive communities.

Funding and Affiliation

UW LEND operates under the Autism CARES Act, funded by the federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB). It’s part of a national network of LEND programs.
