This funding initiative targets Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) research. PCORI is seeking to bolster high-quality comparative clinical effectiveness research projects focusing on IDD, with a keen emphasis on three pivotal areas:

  1. Promoting sleep health
  2. Augmenting health and quality of life in individuals with Down Syndrome
  3. Refining care delivery

The endeavor encourages researchers to propose studies that compare screening, diagnostic and treatment approaches, interventions, or system-level strategies aimed at improving patient-centered outcomes. The initiative, open to a variety of methodologies including randomized controlled trials and observational studies, offers funding of up to $12 million for a maximum duration of five years. Interested UW students and researchers are encouraged to learn more about the specifics of this opportunity during the Virtual Applicant Town Hall on January 17, 2024, or by reaching out to PCORI through email at sciencequestions@pcori.org. This call for proposals presents an opportunity for impactful research that addresses crucial health disparities and challenges encountered by individuals with IDD and their communities.
